In the spring, you’ll be met by blossoming fruit orchards. In the summertime, you can enjoy the balmy evenings. And the magnificent golden autumn in the mountains is legendary! Whether you come to hike, climb, or go swimming or mountainbiking: Salurn is the optimal starting-point for your vacation! And if you’d rather just relax – the health-giving effects of pristine mountain air are well known to all. To the south, you’ll see the Salurn Gap and the majestic Haderburg. In the background, you’ll see the Brenta Group. And to the northeast, there are the Madrutt Wall and the Trudner Horn Nature Park. So put your hiking boots on and let’s go!
The ideal place for hiking and cycling
Salurn represents a strategically perfect location for undertaking countless hiking trips. You’ll find mountains in every direction – you won’t be able to resist the urge! You can follow the ancient route used by the Romans on the Dürer Trail, or take the Etsch / Adige Bicycle Path to either the north or the south. Whether you prefer hiking or biking, it’s the perfect starting-point for numerous journeys of discovery. And if you’d like to travel to a more-distant destination, you might want to try journeying to the magnificent Weisshorn / Corno Bianco (from which one can also enjoy fabulous sunrises).
On the slopes
In the wintertime, you’re guaranteed unlimited fund in the snow at the Jochgrimm ski area (especially well-suited for beginners). Another destination for winter sports fans is the Fiemme Valley and Paganella (just 30 minutes away).
Just a few minutes to the village center of Salurn
The village center of Salurn is characterized by influences from the north and the south. Perhaps that’s what makes it so appealing! This once throbbing commercial center is now a peaceful and relaxed place where you’re free to spend a lazy evening. Salurn offers a number of shops looking back on a long tradition. You’re sure to love strolling along the avenues and side streets and taking in all the impressions.
Day-trips by rail
In just 25 minutes, you can be in the provincial capital of Bozen / Bolzano (to the north) or in historic Trento (to the south). About an hour by car, and two and a half hours by rail, and you can reach Lake Garda. Salurn is well connected to major traffic arteries, so there’s no limit to the possibilities. You might want to stroll through the arcades of cosmopolitan Bozen, or enjoy the beaches of Lake Garda – in any event, day-tours with the train are always a special treat!
For mermaids and climbers
There are a number of highlights in the immediate vicinity, including Kaltern / Caldaro, Fennberg / Favogna, and Lake Santo. Lake Kaltern / Caldaro offers a Mediterranean flair and plenty of action in the water: You can rent stand-up paddle boards and paddle boats, learn wind-surfing, and also swim from one shore to the other. Near Fennberg there’s the Fenner climbing trail – a special treat in the spring and autumn. After an invigorating climb, there’s nothing like taking a refreshing dip in the nearby lake. Lake Santo is also an absolute highlight, and can be reached on foot in about three and a half hours from the Church Square in Salurn.
